General Information

Vermont Youth Philharmonia (VYP) is conducted by Dr. Yutaka Kono, Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Vermont and Director of the UVM Symphony Orchestra. VYP performs a variety of professional and educational repertoire, including mainstream orchestral pieces, contemporary music, and lighter fare such as film music. For many members, VYP offers them their first experiences playing in a full symphony orchestra and provides the ensemble training that prepares them to advance to the VYO.

Tuition & Financial Aid

Annual tuition fees for participation in VYOA instrumental programs vary. For the 2023-24 season, tuition for Vermont Youth Philharmonia is $1,575.00. Please note that tuition is non-refundable. The tuition fees for each ensemble program are announced in June and published in the VYOA Handbook given to each student at the beginning of each concert season.

Financial Aid: The VYOA believes strongly that no child should be discouraged from participating due to financial need. Need-based financial aid is available to qualifying families who wish to apply. Please contact our office for additional information on Financial Aid options or to receive a hard-copy of the Financial Aid form.
