Thank you for helping us fund student scholarships!

Every year, the VYOA holds its annual Online Auction to support our student scholarship fund. Recognizing the economic barriers that many children in our area face, we have a robust financial aid program to support these young musicians and their families. This season, we have awarded nearly $40,000 in need-based scholarships to students who would otherwise be unable to participate in our programs.

As we were gearing up for this year’s auction, COVID-19 hit. We were a month away from launching the auction and had only acquired half of the items we needed. Our plans to solicit businesses and canvas Vermont to gather goods and services had to stop. Under these circumstances, we knew that our auction would take a hit. When we decided to run it anyway, we were uncertain of how successful it would be.

Within the first day, we hit half of our $5,000 goal. Within one week, we exceeded that goal. At its close, we raised $6,700 – and it’s all thanks to you. With donations and bids both from new community members as well as longtime supporters, we are incredibly thankful for your generosity and for helping us spread the word. You’ve given us needed support to help fund our scholarships, enabling students of all financial backgrounds to experience music.

FAQs

Q: How can I help the VYOA reach their auction fundraising goal besides participating in the auction?
A: The biggest thing you can do to help is to tell your friends, family, and coworkers!  Forward an email, share on Facebook and Twitter, or pick up the phone and tell them.  The more people we have participating, the more likely we are to reach our goal.  You can also make a donation via the “Donate Now” button on our auction site to boost us toward our goal.  Thank you!

Q: Are proxy bids allowed?
A: Yes.  A proxy bid is when you place a bid for the maximum amount you are willing to spend, then let the system bid for you up to that amount.

Q: Can items be shipped to me?
A: Most items are available for shipping for an additional charge.  Some larger items and baskets cannot be shipped, and that will be stated in the item description.

Q: What payment methods are accepted?
A: The VYOA receives the largest percentage of funds if you choose to pay by check, but your your convenience, we can also accept all major credit cards via Paypal.  You do NOT need a Paypal account in order to pay by credit card.
