Yvonne Miceler

Yvonne Miceler, Senior Soloist, sets her sights on George Hue’s Fantasie for Flute and Orchestra and VYO soars to meet her. Yvonne shares that she loves how the piece shows the diversity of what flute can sound like: “There’s a lot of contrast between dramatic entrances, softer lyrical melodies, and of the staccatos.” She explained, “I don’t think I’ve ever played a piece that demonstrates so many different moods and qualities of the flute, and I love that about the Fantasie.” In this concert that celebrates the launch of the senior class, the orchestra plays music that soars: Howard Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 (the inspiration for the score for ET), John William’s Across the Stars from Star Wars, and the East Coast premiere of Valerie Pelka’s Memorias Angentinas.
