We’re ready for summer – aren’t you? Kick-off your summer with fun and music-making at VYOA Summer Symphony Camp. We’re excited to have you join us.

Summer Symphony Camp introduces middle school musicians to playing in a symphony and jazz orchestra. Musicians perform well-known traditional and contemporary works in a fun and supportive environment while making friends with students from across our region. This week-long intensive focuses on fundamentals and new music styles in a large ensemble setting. In addition to daily rehearsals, campers participate in fun electives such as chorus, world drumming, improvisation, and recreation. Camp closes with a culminating concert for family and friends.

Playing Guidelines

For students entering grades five to grade nine with at least one year of experience.

String Students

  • Proficient playing in the keys of D, G, and C
  • Introduction to playing in the key of F and Bb
  • Introduction to rhythms with eighth note combinations, dotted rhythms and ties

Band Students

  • Proficient playing in the keys of Concert B-flat and E-flat
  • Introduction to the keys of Concert F and C
  • Introduction to rhythms with eighth note combinations, dotted rhythms, and ties

Tuition & Financial Aid

2026 Summer Symphony Camp Tuition: $240

Please note that a $50 non-refundable registration fee is included within the tuition. Please refer to the registration form for our full cancellation policy. Financial aid is available for qualifying families and is reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Financial Aid

The VYOA believes strongly that no child should be discouraged from participating due to financial need. Need-based financial aid is available to all families who wish to apply. Please contact our office for additional information on Financial Aid options or to receive a hard-copy of the Financial Aid application.
