Lisa Zhou-Hackett

Violinist Lisa Zhou-Hackett starts the season with Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. She says that she loves her solo piece because of the way it builds anticipation. “Despite its fast tempo, each section foreshadows the emotion in the next, leaving the audience eager to hear the story unfold,” she explains. In addition, the October concert features local composer Keane Southard’s Appalachian Trail, movement 3 “Vermont,” as well as Mendelssohn’s powerful Reformation symphony, and vivid selections by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Miklós Rózsa.
