b'senior soloist senior soloistNora Cannizzaro Mason DavisN ora Cannizzaro, a senior at Essex High School, has always loved playingM ason Davis, a senior at St. Johnsbury Academy, grew up in the Cape Cod music. She began her musical career playing piano and clarinet in fourtharea until moving to St. Johnsbury, VT his sophomore year. At age twelve grade. She became a member of the Vermont Youth Philharmonia during herhe began playing clarinet, and soon picked up other instruments such seventh grade year. The following year, she switched to bassoon and became aas violin, oboe, and percussion. Since then, Mason has participated in member of the Vermont Youth Orchestra her freshman year. She studied her first various musical groups including: concert band, jazz band, strings, quintets, chorus,few years on bassoon with Julie Wolfe, and has been studying with Max Grube for theand pit band at the Academy, local town bands and orchestras, Districts, All States,past two years. She has participated in District, All State, and New England MusicNew England Music Festival, and of course the VYO. Last year, Mason was placed as Festivals throughout her high school career. She has also been a regular member of theprincipal clarinet at the New England Music Festival and assistant principal atUVM Symphony since her freshman year. All States, along with acceptance on violin in All States. Mason also was accepted intoNora loves spreading her love for music, and does so by being a part of her schoolsthe Interlochen summer music camp in Michigan.band and music honors society. She also takes part in community service projects andMason began studying with Jan Halloran, faculty at Boston Conservatory at Berklee and performances both in and out of school. In her free time, Nora enjoys playing electricDartmouth College and principal clarinetist of Boston Lyric Opera in the spring of 2020. bass, working at a local restaurant, and going on hikes with friends. At age fifteen, Mason also began studying violin with Jason Bergman, a first violinist with the Vermont Philharmonic. Outside of classical music, Mason has volunteered to help young musicians for Catamount Arts E.P.I.C. music program, and is also the drummer for singer/songwriter Cameron Clark. Mason enjoys playing a variety of sports such as soccer, cross country, alpine skiing, and ultimate frisbee. 10 11'
