b'elco m ewOf all the important takeaways from the last eighteenmonths, the indispensability of live music was the largest for to our me. As grateful as we have been for virtual collaborations and live streams, there is no substitute for in-person music 58th season!making. VYOA was privileged to hold in-person rehearsals throughout the year, but we missed the joys of curtain calls and the excited chatter at the applauses end.At long last, were ready for our Fantastique Return to live audiences in some of Vermonts iconic venues including the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, and VYOs home away from home, the Flynn. Highlights of VYOs season include the wild and thrilling Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz, vivid and compelling portraits of the American landscape in The American Scene by the masterful William Grant Still, and lastly, brilliant new works will stand alongside familiar favorites by Russian and American composers in our program East Meets West. I am grateful for the tenacity and adaptability of our board, staff, musicians, families, and sponsors this past season. Thanks to everyones unwavering support we are ready for a Fantastique Return! See you in the concert hall!Dr. Mark Alpizar, Music DirectorWe are so lucky that we were able to present our musicians last season via live stream. It was one way that we could stay connected and celebrate their hard work and musicianship. Though I had the privilege of hearing them perform live during those broadcasts, there is nothing like the concert hall, which holds such a special place for connection within our VYOA community. That concert hall energy has been so missed. Last season, your applause and excitement took place on the other side of the camera. This season, lets not hold back, and enthusiastically show our joy and appreciation for our students resilience and commitment. They are an inspiration. I look forward to experiencing great performances alongside you this time around, back in the concert hall.Rosina Cannizzaro, Executive Director9'
