Coda is a tuition-based private lesson program for string players (violin, viola, cello, bass) who have completed Prelude! or 1-2 years of school instruction. Tuition includes 28 half hour lessons from September through June, enrollment in fall and spring Presto sessions (our six-week string orchestra that meets on Sunday afternoon), and two studio recitals. Coda lessons and Presto rehearsal take place in the Elley-Long Music Center located at Fort Ethan Allen in Colchester. Tuition is $800. Financial aid is available.
Violin/viola: Patricia Jancova
Cello: Suzanne Smith
Coda students are allowed 2 make up lessons per semester for illness or an unavoidable schedule conflict. If students must miss more than 2 lessons in a given semester, those additional absences will not be made up, credited or refunded. The VYOA will work with families to find a mutually convenient lesson time, which will become that student’s regular lesson time for the school year. Students are allowed one absence during each six-week Presto session but are encouraged to attend each rehearsal.
Tuition & Financial Aid
Annual tuition fees for participation in VYOA programs vary. For the 2018-19 season, tuition for Coda is $800.00. Please note that tuition is non-refundable. The tuition fees for each program are announced in June.
Financial Aid: The VYOA believes strongly that no child should be discouraged from participating due to financial need. Need-based financial aid is available to all families who wish to apply. Please contact our office for additional information on Financial Aid options or to receive a hard-copy of the Financial Aid application.
