Auditions for all VYOA orchestras are held annually in May at the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael's College. New students interested in joining the VYOA are welcome to audition at this time. Current members of all orchestras must audition in order to participate in the organization each season. All auditions are held by appointment only. New students interested in an audition should call our office to schedule an audition appointment. Existing VYOA members are assigned an audition date and time. All Existing members are notified by mail of their audition appointment time and date.
In some circumstances, the VYOA may hear auditions at other times during the year. Please call our office to inquire about scheduling an audition that falls outside of the annual audition period.
*Placement in Presto does not require an audition, but students may audition if they wish.
Members of the VYOA artistic staff hear all orchestral auditions. Qualified students are offered placement in the appropriate VYOA group based on the skill and experience as demonstrated in the audition. All students are notified of their audition results via mail.

After an audition is scheduled students will then receive an email with the Audition Packet that includes a Student Information Form & School Participation Form, both of which must be turned in at the audition.
