The VYOA Choruses present works by Felix Mendelssohn, Kirke Mechem, Michael Jackson and others, all reflecting the struggle for freedom that we find within ourselves and in our society. African American spirituals and the luminous motet Lux arumque by Eric Whitacre complete the program with imagery of hope and beauty.

An Evening of Music by Erik Nielsen
7:30 pm at the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael's College
This performance features the Northeast New Music Collective, featuring clarinetist and VYOA alumnus Dan Liptak. Dan is a senior at the Hartt School of Music and will be joined on this program by fellow Hartt students, including a string quartet and brass quintet. A VYO string quartet - Roland Clark and Joe Carlomagno, violins; Devon Govett, viola; and Josh Morris, cello - will also perform. The program includes works written by VT composer Erik Nielsen for clarinet and strings, bass clarinet and vibraphone, string quartet, brass quintet, and two premieres: "Nocturne" for bass clarinet, and "Jive City" for tuba.
Admission is by donation. All proceeds benefit the VYOA.
