The VYO is our flagship orchestra featuring our most advanced musicians. Members perform full-length symphonic orchestral works and present three concerts at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts. The VYO also tours internationally, having performed in Iceland, Germany, the Czech Republic, France, and China.

The VYP offers young musicians their first symphony orchestra experience. With a full complement of woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments, students perform movements from large symphonic repertoire and works by contemporary composers.

VYS provides a preparatory orchestra experience for young string players. Students hone their ensemble playing skills in a fun but focused orchestra setting.

Prelude! is a yearlong program for students in grades 2-5 who are interested in learning to play a string instrument. Students can choose violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Tuition includes students’ instrument rental, method book, and instruction.

Chorus members perform masterpieces from the choral repertoire that range from madrigals to large symphonic choral works. Chorus is open to singers in grades 9-12 who each receive a limited number of private coachings and sectionals throughout the year.

The Chorale is a treble choir dedicated to singers in grades 5-7. Students perform a wide range of world, contemporary, and classical repertoire in two and three part harmony.
All VYOA ensemble rehearsals take place at the Elley-Long Music Center. All VYOA orchestras and choruses perform in the annual OrchestraChorusPalooza concert at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in addition to their concerts at the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael’s College.
