How to join

Membership in our ensembles is offered based on each student’s placement audition. These ensembles include:

Our primary audition period is in May for ensemble placement the following season (beginning in August/September).

We also hear late auditions for new and returning students from June to September (for full season placement) and mid-season auditions for new students in December (for Winter/Spring placement). In these later auditions, string students who demonstrate that they are qualified for a particular ensemble will typically be invited to join the ensemble best aligned with their capabilities. Wind, brass, and percussion students will be offered placement on a space-available basis.

No audition is required for our shorter programs such as Presto strings and Summer Symphony Camp.

If you are interested in joining our choral program, please email auditions@vyo.org for instructions on how to join.

The VYOA does not require any payment for the opportunity to audition!
